Field Notes

As part of their ‘Duck Digger’ sub-label, Warehouse & Co have released a brilliant example of what we might call the WWII Type-I. This delicately detailed, early model denim jacket has been cut from the brand’s signature 13.5oz rinsed denim, and boasts a short cut boxy shape with a traditional cinch back, which is synonymous with this type. Coming from a period of intense economical uncertainty and rationing, this model has been paired down in an effort to save on precious supplies for the war effort. Donut buttons have been featured which save on steel, and only four buttons can be found on the front closure. Also the pocket flap has been removed to avoid excess material consumption.

Traditional sewn in knife pleats have been included on the front plate, and a leather patch has been washed to vintage perfection. For the cherry on the cake, the brand have developed a custom buckle for this option, which perfectly reflects those used in the mid 1940’s.

Garment Care

How to Wash
Step 1

When you’re ready to wash your jeans, button the fly and turn them inside out. Doing up the fly ensures the jeans maintain their shape, and turning them inside out avoids unwanted marks from the washing machine drum on the indigo.

Step 2

Place the jeans in your washing machine with neutral detergent, and set them on a non/low-spin wash at cold–20 degrees for raw, or up to 30 degrees for pre-washed. High spin may cause unwanted 'lightning fades', and washing too hot can cause excess shrinkage, so it’s important to follow these steps carefully!

Step 3

Once your jeans are done washing, hang them somewhere safe and allow them to air dry. Putting your jeans in a tumble dryer has a high chance of degrading the fabric and misshaping your jeans. Make sure wherever you hang them has proper drainage, as you’ll be expecting some indigo runoff.
