Field Notes

Originally designed to be worn as part of a full 'Winter Flying Suit' (WFS), the 'WEP' jacket was produced for the U. S. Navy between the 1950s and 1970s. Buzz Rickson's have chosen to faithfully reproduce the late C-Type WEP jacket know for it's distinct V-tapered cuff detail and dark olive colour.

Compared to other well known American flight jackets from the period, the WEP jacket takes a more utilitarian approach with two large patch pockets on the chest, and a single pocket on the left arm. A chinstrap keeps the ribbing closely fastened for warmth, while interior waste tabs are included with the intent to fasten to the matching trousers. The jacket is interlined with a dense wool felt to provide warmth and structure, while the gathered waistband keeps the shape neat and tidy.

Authentic militaria

As perhaps one of the most well known heritage brands currently on the market, Buzz Rickson’s has become an authority on military reproduction. Based in Japan, the brand painstakingly reproduces rare mid-century garments to an impeccably detailed degree, often relying on slow and antiquated fabrication techniques to ensure a high quality and realistic finish.
